Lead Person

Reports To: Production Supervisor
Pay Grade: Work area grade + $1 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the area Lead person is to assist the supervisor in the area by using their expertise in an effort to improve work area productivity. The Lead person will coordinate work with Supervisor and department team daily and work to meet and exceed production goals. They will organize work to make production more efficient and achieve higher work thruput. They will train/cross train production employees in area to achieve better production capabilities. The Lead person will lead by example, by supporting the company goals and objectives, and all policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize work in area per supervisor's priorities.
- Organize floor stock area in order to monitor inventory levels.
- Monitor status of fixtures and tooling.
- Set-up equipment and/or train employees to set-up equipment.
- Insures that production finished pieces are to quality level and above acceptable rate for entire area.
- Position requires ability to provide initial training as well as continual and cross training to support all of the products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work with Assembly Supervisor and Engineering to make sure work instructions are current.
- Provide input on Quality in conjunction with the Assembly Supervisor and Quality Coordinator.
- Should have a basic understanding of LEAN Manufacturing or be willing to learn.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Overtime maybe required, and lead person must work overtime any time their area is required to work overtime.

- Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards, safety and stretching requirements directed by Edlund Company and the department.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to operate various machines.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to team and/or employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
- Ability to work from verbal instructions, job instructions and machine manuals to assure consistency in quality and workmanship.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School or equivalent required; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Safe work practices.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Predominately active with high frequency of standing, walking, lifting, reaching, hand and arm usage (67% - 100% of the workday).
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
