Shipping Lead

Reports To: Manufacturing Supervisor
Pay Grade: 4 (+ Lead Pay)

SUMMARY

Coordinate the shipping department with the Manufacturing Supervisor daily work to meet production goals. Organization of work to make shipping more efficient and achieve higher work thru put. Train personnel in area to achieve better shipping quality. This position is also responsible for the daily planning of the shipping team. This position requires pulling product or parts according to pick tickets, packaging, and electronically transact the resulting shipments via computer.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize work in area per supervisor’s priorities.
  • Position requires ability to provide training as well as continual training to support all of the products.
  • Cross-train within home department and other comparable work centers
  • Organize orders of material for shipment by pulling material from stock (floor and packed stock) in accordance with pick lists provided by customer service.
  • Perform material shipment transactions on both the IQMS system and the UPS/FedEx computer systems.
  • Move material from the shipping area to the loading dock.
  • Coordinate pickups by the various trucking firms.
  • Advise Customer Service department as to the status of certain orders and/or products.
  • Advise the production department of shipping shortages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organize packed stock area.
  • General housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive manufacturing processes efficiently and effectively.
  • Should have a basic understanding of LEAN Manufacturing or be willing to lean.

None (Ability to acquire supervisory skills)

  • Follow all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by Edlund Company and the department.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instruction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed including job rotation and/or overtime.
  • Lead person must work overtime whenever any other persons in area work overtime.
  • Ability to uphold Safety standards, participate in continuous process improvements on the job, and following our Manufacturing best practices.

Education and/or Experience:

High school education or equivalent; and/or up to three years related experience or training in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Driver's License
  • Forklift Training Certification
